| This course is designed for managers, superintendents, Friends members and others who are interested in creating or energizing an existing Friends organization. You will learn key aspects and the critical elements of developing and/or sustaining a successful partnership between a Friends organization and government agency. |

| Who Should Attend: |
Managers, Superintendents and those who serve, or will serve, as liaison to a Friends organization. It is recommended that agency personnel attend with a Friends member. |
| Objectives: |
- Explain the basics of philanthropy and the federal laws, regulations, and policies that apply to private fund raising for agency projects;
- Describe outreach skills to effectively promote the agency mission with local businesses and community organizations and other stakeholders;
- Describe and identify approaches to facilitate and encourage an optimal organizational structure for a Friends organization;
- Explain how to establish and sustain a viable partnership with a Friends organization to meet jointly developed goals and
- Recognize pitfalls and obstacles that may occur in developing a relationship between an agency and Friends organization.
