Seth Green

  • The pioneer of early cold water fish culture operation at an old mill site near Caledonia, New York. Quickly he found success, mostly selling eggs and small fish to others interested in starting their own operation. He was secretive about his methods, but was willing to give lessons to aspiring culturists for $10/day. Green was active in the American Fisheries Society, and was the first chairman of the executive committee in 1872.
