S.F. Snieszko… Dr. S.F. Snieszko was one of the leading scientists in the field of fish diseases and fish health management. As chairman of the Fish Disease Committee of American Fisheries Society, he was instrumental in the passage of Title 50 legislation which required examination of salmonids for the agents of whirling disease and viral hemorrhagic septicemia before importation into the U.S. His work formed the basis for chemotherapy of bacterial fish diseases and provided the framework for FDA clearance of antibacterials for use on food fish. He served at Leetown Fisheries Station in West Virginia.
