This 5-day course provides hands-on field mapping experience using Trimble mapping grade GPS units running the latest version of ArcPad. You will learn how to design, implement, and manage your field mapping projects using a geodatabase centric approach. Geodatabases are a vast improvement over older files types and are an integral part of the mobile GPS/GIS workflow. Other topics include ArcPad customization and post-processing GPS field data to improve accuracy. All GPS/GIS hardware and software are provided.
• Learn how to design, manage and implement GPS field projects using a geodatabase centric approach,
• Use ArcPad to collect point, line and polygon data,
• Develop ArcPad data forms to streamline field data collection,
• Post-process GPS field data using Trimble GPSCorrect and Pathfinder Office software, and
• Determine what GPS unit is best for your project or work station.
Target Audience: Field biologists, GIS specialists, environmental planners and other natural resource professionals who are designing and managing field mapping projects. You must have previous experience using ArcGIS software and collecting field data with a GPS device.
