Course Descriptions

Course Resources

We have distilled the primary points and common themes from each of the existing week-long endangered species courses (listing and candidate assessment, recovery planning, recovery implementation, interagency consultation, and habitat conservation planning) and condensed them into this 1-week course.  We will discuss how the different Endangered Species Act (ESA) sections relate to each other and will emphasize new and pending regulations and policies in each of the subject areas.  We use case studies and group discussions extensively to convey course content.

College Credit:  2 semester hours

Who Should Attend:  Managers and others needing a broad overview of ESA regulations, policies, and recent updates.

Length:  5 days/36 hours

Objectives:  By the end of this session, the participant will be able to;

  • Discuss the basic elements of candidate conservation, listing, recovery planning, recovery implementation, interagency consultation, and habitat conservation planning;
  • Describe the ways in which these different ESA processes relate to each other; and
  • Explain recent policy changes or issues in each of the subject areas..
