1. How do I access DOI LEARN? Launch Internet Explorer and type https://doilearn.doi.gov in the address bar then type in your userid and password.

2. Do I have to make any adjustments on my computer? You should adjust your browser settings to enable cookies and Java. Clear your browser cache regularly. For step-by-step instructions see IEBrowser_Settings .pdf . These adjustments make using DOI LEARN a better learning experience.

3. How do I log into DOI LEARN for the first time? The first time you log in, you will be required to create a user name and password; supply your e-mail address; select your Supervisor's name from a drop-down list. You will also be required to read and accept the "Rules of Behavior" for use of the LSM. For specific instructions about how to login for the first time, please access the Initial Login pdf document.  

4. How do I view all the courses available? Click on the Catalog link in the Quick-menu bar at the top right of your screen. Use the basic or advanced search to search by keyword. Click browse catalog to search by course category. For step-by-step instructions see Search Catalog .pdf

5. How do I register for a class? Click on the course name. Scroll through Class Details to locate the desired date. Enter estimated travel, per diem and materials costs (zeros can be used if no costs are required). Select Agency, Employee or Combination from drop-down. Click on Preview Schedule. Click on Apply. A request for training approval will be sent to your supervisor. For step-by-step instructions see Register.pdf

6. How do I know I've been registered in a class? How can I cancel once registered? Once you apply, a request will be sent to your supervisor. You will be notified via e-mail on the status of your request and registration. Once registered, the class should appear in your My Courses tab.

To cancel this registration you will click the "Request to Drop" link in the My Courses area. This will send an email notification to the Primary Contact of the class.

7. Please define the registration statuses used in the system. There are just a few Class Roster statuses that you will see used in DOI LEARN. They are Registered - you have been approved and added to the roster for the class. Closed Roster List - you have requested registration for a class but the roster has not been determined yet by the Course Leader. Waitlist - you have been placed on a waitlist and will be notified if a spot opens up on the roster. Admin Drop - your registration has been dropped because of over enrollment, class cancellation or some other administrative reason. Student Drop - you have requested to be dropped from the roster for a particular class.

8. Can I register several people in my office for a class? DOI LEARN is a self service registration system. Each individual should log on and register themselves for training.

9. I'm a contractor or volunteer. How do I register for training? You will have your own account manually created in the new system the FIRST TIME ONLY by requesting training as an external student. To find this external account request, click on the following link: http://doilearn.doi.gov/coursecatalog/index.cfm. Your login will be created within 2 business days and the information will be sent to you via email. After that, you will access the system by logging in as yourself, just like any other DOI employee. Please update your My Information area and be sure to include the organization code of the office that you work with.

10. Where can I find more help? In the DOI LEARN system click on the Help in the Quick-menu bar. Or click on Help Desk in the main menu bar. For help outside the DOI LEARN system you can refer to the information at: http://training.fws.gov/doi_learn/DOILEARNtraining.htm.

11. I'm a supervisor, how do I approve training requests for my employees? As a supervisor, and logged in to DOI LEARN, you have the responsibility of approving training requests in the Approval Queue. The approval queue is found in the Course Catalog tab. Click the Search button to see all training requests waiting for your approval. Once you locate the specific training request, click the link under the Action column. This will allow you to approve that request by selecting the appropriate status in the drop down field. The training request is then moved forward to the class roster where the Course Leader or Training Tech will make final approval.

12. What's the difference between this system and DOI University that I have used in the past? How about OPM's USA Learning? DOI University's system will be replaced by DOI LEARN in the near future. Your login for their system is currently valid and will still work but soon their courses will be available via DOI LEARN. OPM's system, USA Learning, is a completely separate system from DOI LEARN although the same vendor does host the OPM version so it looks somewhat similar. If you have a login for that system, please use it when you visit OPM's USA Learning.

13. How do I remove a supervisor or employee in the My Profile area? To delete a supervisor, simply highlight their name and then scroll down and click 'save'. This is the same way to delete employees from the supervisors profile.
