USFWS Employee Foundations

Pre-Course Work

The USFWS Employee Foundations week is designed to introduce new employees to the US Fish and Wildlife Service as a federal agency chartered with conserving and protecting of our nation's valuable natural resources.

Our mission is working with others to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American pople.

The course is divided into three areas:

  • Conserve, protect and enhance which includes the history, organization, program roles and an introduction to public service;
  • Working with others which includes a self assessment, communication, conflict resolution, partnering, and;
  • Building a career with the USFWS.

In preparation for the course, employees will complete the online assessments (information provided in participant packages) and the congressional and budget processes training.
