Organization

Overview

The USFWS s a bureau within the Department of the Interior under the Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks. It is one of four "place-based" bureaus in the Department. Review the Department's Organization chart.

The USFWS is comprised of the Washington Office and 8 Regional Offices.

The Directorate consists of the Service Director, the Service Deputy Director, the Regional Directors, the eleven program Assistant Directors in the Washington Office (WO) and the Director of the National Conservation Training Center.

The Deputies Group consists of the Deputy Regional Directors (DRDs),the eleven program Deputy Assistant Directors (DADs) in the Washington Office (WO) and the Deputy Director of the National Conservation Training Center.

The Washington Office (WO) organization differs somewhat from Regional Office organization, but all eleven program areas of the WO are in every regional office. Contact your Regional Office (RO) for a copy of your region's organization charts.
