FWS supervisors have many different responsibilities. In addition to being a supervisor, they help carry out the mission of the organization as one of its leaders. One of the supervisor's key tasks is administering personnel and other administrative practices and actions.

This desk reference guide provides both new and experienced supervisors with an overview of personnel and administrative practices and procedures that must be know in order to effectively do their job.

The guide is not meant to create personnel experts or provide the answers to all personnel or administrative questions. It is designed to provide basic information on topics that are commonly encountered in a supervisory role and provide references and contacts for more information.

This guide can serve as a first source of information. If the answer isn't found here, then the references associated with the topic may give the answer. As a last resort, clicking on the "Questions" button on the left will open up a form to write a question to the appropriate Regional Human Resources office.

All attempts have been made to keep this guide as accurate as possible. However, policies and procedures often change, sometimes rapidly. At the time this site was published, this was the most accurate information available.
