Youth Conservation Corps Program
Are you between the ages of 15 and 18, and currently enrolled in high school? Would you like to spend your summer working, learning and earning in the outdoors? Would you like a fun job where your efforts make a difference for wildlife and the environment? If you answered YES to these questions, the Youth Conservation Corps may be right for you.
The National Conservation Training Center is sponsoring a summer Youth Conservation Corps Program in 2012. The Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a summer employment program for young men and women ages 15 through 18, who work, learn, and earn together by doing projects on public lands. The goals are to accomplish needed conservation work on public lands, to provide gainful employment for America's youth, and provide an opportunity for participants to develop an understanding and appreciation for the nation's natural environment and heritage. YCC crew members will perform important conservation work at NCTC while gaining work experience and knowledge in the field of natural resources and ecology. The YCC crew will also be traveling to other sites in the area to do service projects and to learn more about the natural and cultural resources in the region.
The YCC Program will begin on Monday, June 11 and run for eight weeks, ending on Friday, August 3. Participants will work 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Six crew members will be hired at $7.25 per hour and one crew leader at slightly more per hour. Participants must be physically fit, have a good work attitude, and be available to participate for the whole program. For more information, see the announcement. To apply, fill out the application. Applications must be postmarked by April 16, 2012.
