DescriptionThis two-day Congressional Operations Institute for staff from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) identifies the current political leaders in the Congress as well as those committees with jurisdiction over the FWS programs and budgets. This course will cover the legislative, committee hearing, and congressional budget processes and how they produce the policies and budgets that affect FWS programs.

Objectives:
-- Describe House and Senate floor procedures
-- Describe the appropriations process as it relates to the USFWS
-- Describe the role of the OMB in the USFWS budget process

Target Audience:Open to USFWS employees only. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service employees who deal with congressional offices and their staffs or those who, as part of their jobs, need to understand how Congress operates.
